Show and Tell
Often times we spend more waking hours with our coworkers than with our loved ones at home. Yet, too many of us only know our coworkers on a strictly professional basis. Sometimes having a bit of insight into another person’s life outside of work can help us understand what makes them tick, what they enjoy, and what may motivate them. Starting 2015 with your nose to the grindstone, and plugging away, may be great for getting those big projects off the ground and running. But what may be even better in the long run, to foster more collaborative working groups and team cooperation, is to take a bit of time for some fun as a group. One way to promote a nice break form the mundane, and to learn more about each other is to have a work show and tell.
Who didn’t love show and tell as a kid? You got to bring in your new toy, your baby brother, a family picture, the options were endless. By doing so, you got a chance to share something about your life outside of school with your classmates, and they got to learn a bit more about your personality. Why not show and tell one day at work? You may be surprised at the many benefits your team gains from it.
